Discount bus fares are for those people who are at the other side of their youth, children and for those who suffer with some kind of disability. Such discounts are served by state owned buses.
Senior citizens with the age of 65+ or people who have disabilities are entitled to pay nominal fare when traveling in state owned buses, provided they present their Medicare card Senior ID card or Disabled ID card to the driver. In general, these discounts can range up to 50% of the standard fare.
The following are the parameters that you need to fulfill to be eligible for discount on bus fares:
For elders they need to fulfill the following three requirements.

Should be at least 65 years old or more.

Should be residing in the service area of the transit authority.

They must have their senior identification card (Medicare card, Senior ID Card).
People who are suffering with some disabilities:
- Should be residing in the service area of the transit authority.
- They must have a statewide Transportation Access Pass.
In most of the cases child should be about 12 years of age to get a discount on bus fares. Students up to the age of 17 also qualify for a discount during the school days. Remember, children who are very young (5years or younger) travel free.
